Welcome to The Hills Shire Council's Pioneer Theatre and Cultural Centre  

The Pioneer Theatre and Cultural Centre is a community facility co-located with The Hills Shire Library Service’s Castle Hill branch in the Castle Grand building on the corner of Castle and Pennant Streets, Castle Hill.

The Pioneer Theatre is a multipurpose venue capable of various configurations including a 350+ seat adjustable performance space (including 188 seats on a tiered retractable seating bank), a Cabaret setting of 22 tables and 220 seats, a full banquet mode with 34 tables and 340 seats, and several other configurations.

It is a highly versatile ‘black box’ style theatre, designed to accommodate a variety of uses including theatrical works, orchestral, acoustic and contemporary music, cabaret, large corporate functions, conferences, school and social events including weddings, family gatherings, film screenings and parties. The theatre also boasts a modern commercial kitchen.

The associated Cultural Centre is located on the theatre level, and includes four meeting rooms capable of accommodating chaired meetings of 20 to 180 people. There is also a veranda suitable for pre-show activities or addition presentation space. The Theatre and Cultural Centre share a spacious foyer area perfect for preshow activities.

 

ACCESS INFORMATION

Accessibility

The Pioneer Theatre is wheelchair accessible from Cultural Centre foyer to the main entrance doors of the venue. There is a public elevator from the carpark to the theatre foyers. At this same level in the foyers are the box office, administration and limited mobility toilets adjacent to the entrance to the Pioneer Theatre.

Parking

Parking is available for the Pioneer Theatre and Cultural Centre within the Castle Grand car park, accessible off Castle Street. This parking is shared with other users of the building. Additional parking is available at Castle Towers Shopping Centre.

Public Transport

The Pioneer Theatre and Cultural Centre is a five-minute walk from the new Castle Hill Metro Station, located next to the Castle Towers Bus Terminal located on Old Northern Road outside Castle Towers Shopping Centre.
