Carrie The Musical

Performed by Blackout Theatre Company

Set in the small town of Chamberlain, Maine, Carrie: The Musical brings Stephen King's legendary novel to life with a powerful contemporary edge. Featuring a book by Lawrence D. Cohen (screenwriter of the original film), music by Academy Award winner Michael Gore (Fame, Terms of Endearment), and lyrics by Academy Award winner Dean Pitchford (Fame, Footloose), this gripping musical explores the darkness of adolescence and the consequences of cruelty.

Carrie White is a high school outcast. Bullied at school and controlled at home by her over-protective mother, she struggles to find her place, until she discovers she has an extraordinary gift. But when pushed too far, Carrie’s power takes a terrifying turn.

After its short-lived original run on Broadway, Carrie returned Off-Broadway in 2012 in a bold, reimagined production by MCC at the Lucille Lortel Theatre. With a refreshed script, new songs, and a sharper focus on bullying, isolation, and teenage identity, the revival received critical acclaim and multiple award nominations, including Best Off-Broadway Musical by the Off-Broadway Alliance.

Now produced in theatres worldwide, Carrie: The Musical continues to captivate audiences with its haunting story, electrifying score, and deeply human core.
