Sweet Charity

Performed by Hornsby Musical Society

Inspired by Federico Fellini's Night of Cabiria, Sweet Charity explores the turbulent love life of Charity Hope Valentine, a hopelessly romantic dance hall hostess in New York City in the 1960’s.

With a score by Cy Coleman, a hilarious book by Neil Simon, and original choreography by Bob Fosse, Charity's journey is marked by some of the best-loved songs and most iconic dance numbers (Big Spender, Rich Man's Frug, Rhythm of Life) in Broadway history.

Sweet Charity captures all the energy, humour, and heartbreak of Life in the Big City for an unfortunate but irrepressible optimist. In this exuberant, groovy, hilarious musical comedy, Charity tries again and again to find her dream and make something of herself.
